Ishtar is an accredited international dancer with more than 2 decades of professional experience. She embarked on her amazing artistic journey when at the age of 2 she joined a local dance school. She continued her dance education which included Latin, Jazz ballet, Street dance, Hip hop, and became a teenage Ballroom champion. She went on to work as a choreographer and performer for a regional theater company, before travelling the world. During a working visit to the Middle East she discovered the world of Oriental Dance, which made a lasting impression and has influenced her artist career ever since. After studying the roots of folkloric and popular dance on three continents, she helped launch the Aarhus Oriental Dance Society (Denmark) in 2003. As a board member she worked to attract more people to the fascinating world of belly dance, whilst continuing her own professional development as a dancer and performer.
Since 2004, Ishtar has been based in England, but continues to teach and train all over the world. She teaches classes and workshops throughout the South East, but can also be booked to talk about the history and culture surrounding Oriental Dance. Having recently completed her JWAAD teacher training with distinction, Ishtar is now looking forward to dedicating more of her time to teaching and performing, whilst continuing her professional development.
Ishtar has trained and danced with a wide range of internationally renown performers such as Serena and Hossam Ramzy, Melanie Norman, Ulla Kallenbach, Jo Wise etc. She specializes in Egyptian and postnatal belly dance, but also masters Turkish, Shakira-style and more folkloric variations of the dance.
